Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe the early years shape a child’s confidence and love of learning. In Transitional Kindergarten, I focus on creating a safe and joyful environment where children feel seen, supported, and excited to explore. Through hands-on learning and strong relationships, I help students build social skills, independence, and a positive foundation that supports both academic growth and emotional development.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was watching a student who once cried daily at drop-off grow to love school. She spoke a second language and entered TK without knowing English letters or sounds. Through hands-on learning and a supportive environment, she began to feel safe and confident. By midyear, she proudly recognized most of the alphabet and told me, “School is fun now.” Seeing her transformation reminded me how powerful joyful learning can be.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would invest in high-quality STEAM materials that will last for years and provide hands-on learning opportunities for my Transitional Kindergarten students. I would also collaborate with my partner TK classroom to ensure equity across both rooms, so all students have equal access to engaging materials that spark curiosity, creativity, and early problem-solving skills.
