I became a teacher in the early 1970s. I love children of all ages. I particularly love to see them learn things and even sometimes be amazed by what they learn. It is hard to imagine how different things and opportunities were for women then. However, lucky for me was that teaching was very welcoming to women.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOnce when teaching 2nd grade I had a young male student absent for a week. When he returned he couldn't wait to show us something he had in a plastic butter tub. It was his tonsils!!!!!! They had been removed a week earlier. I could tell you hundreds of stories like this one.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would LOVE to travel. Teachers salaries aren't the best to use for traveling... particularly now that I sub every day. Having always taught World Cultures there are so many places I would love to visit!
