Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I was lucky enough to have educators in my life that were inspiring to me. I saw how positive they were and how hard they worked to help their students, and I wanted to be able to do that for the students that I teach. I knew I wanted to teach Health and PE because both of these subjects are extremely important in the real world. I have now been teaching for eight years, and I can honestly say this job is so fulfilling, and I have the best students.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I had a student who always wanted to be able to get food in the lunch line that was not already included in the government funded school lunch. He could not ever buy what he actually wanted because he could not afford it. I secretly put money on his lunch account so he could be able to afford a snack of his choice. I told the TA to let him know that he has money on his account, and that he could buy what he wanted. This made his day, and he was so excited and grateful.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would do a few things with $25,000. First off, I would pay off my student loans. I would also donate some of this money to a charity or organization. I am a CASA and work with a foster family, and I would be happy to donate some of the money to them. I am a firm believer in karma, and if I won this amount of money, it would only feel right to share some of it.
