I became a teacher because I wanted to instill a passion for lifelong learning in young students.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceIt was seeing a newcomer English speaker from Brazil, who spent the first 5 weeks of the year, only communicating through Google translate. Over the course of the year, she gained confidence and worked hard to improve her speaking both in partner work and presentations. She grew so much academically and socially. Now, she is in Theatre and doing a stage show!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest some of it in advancing my craft with training. I would share a portion with my stem teachers to purchase a 3D printer and escape room lockboxes from BreakoutEDU. I would purchase a membership to an instructional platform like IXL for my students to continue building on their skills at home.
