Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a real difference in children’s lives. There is nothing like seeing those light bulb moments when a concept finally clicks. I love watching my students grow academically, gaining confidence with each new skill they master. Differentiation allows me to meet every learner where they are and help them reach their full potential. Seeing that progress over time is the most rewarding part of what I do.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was supporting a student facing hard times at home and struggling academically. I became their safe place and steady constant at school. Through patience, differentiation, and daily encouragement, I helped them learn to read and build confidence. I sent books home when they had none, making sure they had something of their own. Providing stability, belief, and consistency helped them grow in ways far beyond academics.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would build a diverse classroom library, purchase hands on math and literacy resources to support differentiation, and add technology to meet every learner’s needs. I would create a calm corner with flexible seating and sensory tools, and provide books and basic supplies for students in need. Every dollar would remove barriers, build confidence, and create opportunities for academic growth and lasting impact.
