I teach to ignite confidence and shape futures, helping every child see their worth and believe they can change the world.

I became a teacher because I believe every child deserves someone who believes in them before they believe in themselves. As a kindergarten teacher, I help shape how students see learning, school, and their own potential. Teaching is my calling—it’s about building confidence, celebrating growth, and laying a foundation that lasts a lifetime. Nearly 30 years of working with children has shown me that when students feel loved and supported, they can achieve anything.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne memorable teaching experience was guiding students who lacked confidence to become an independent reader. Through intentional instruction, patience, and encouragement, my students achieved success. Witnessing their pride reminded me that teaching is about empowering students to believe in themselves and realize their full potential.
What would you do with the $25,000?If awarded $25,000, I would strategically invest the funds to support students, families, and educators. The investment would strengthen early literacy instruction and professional development. A portion would support our PTA in offering monthly parent workshops, while funds would also provide monthly teacher appreciation and wellness initiatives. This approach would strengthen our school community and create lasting impact.
