Teaching lets me light sparks of confidence, turn “I can’t” into “I did,” and watch students discover their own strength.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education changes lives. I wanted to be the steady, encouraging adult who helps students see their potential—especially on the days they can’t see it themselves. Watching a struggling learner gain confidence, master a skill, and realize they are capable is what makes this work meaningful to me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments was watching a struggling math student go from shutting down in frustration to confidently solving problems. We worked in small steps, celebrated tiny wins, and rebuilt their belief in themselves. The day they said, “I’m actually good at this,” reminded me why I teach—because growth isn’t just academic, it’s personal.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest part of the $25,000 in my health—supporting treatments and tools that help me manage my Fibromyalgia so I can continue living the best life that I can. The rest would go toward enriching my students’ experiences in our school like adding calming corner supplies, Kindness Club supplies, and create an environment where every student feels supported and inspired.
