Teaching music isn’t a job—it’s a joy. I help students love music, work together, and choose to be part of something meaningful every day.

I joined my high school arts programs. Band, Choir and Drama and I loved all of them. Partly because of how performing made me feel but after time I was hooked because of the love of the job I witnessed in my teachers. I wanted to have a job that made me happy that also made others happy and inspired.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI recently had the difficult task of preparing a musical performance for the celebration of life for a senior band member who passed in an auto accident. Though not a happy occasion, it did bring me great comfort having my very youngest beginning band, middle school, high school and alumni come together for a single rehearsal and then a phenomenal performance under the duress of the intensely emotional event. The love of music, fellow bandmates and community made it possible for us.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the money to assist my two daughters with their dreams of higher education. My eldest is double majoring in Art and Anthropology at Cal Poly Humboldt and my youngest dreams of attending Disney University.
