Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to be a safe place for children. Not just to teach h children new things. Some children don’t go home to love or hugs and affection. I have a lot of childhood trauma and I wanted so badly to tell someone what was happening to me but I never wanted to burden anyone with my problems. So I became a teacher so all children I encounter know that they can confide in me and know that I have love to give!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I teach Pre-K so I have 4 and 5 year olds! But my most memorable teaching experience was when my Spanish speaking student finally started leading words in English and was able tk communicate with her classmates! The smile on that babies face when she understood her friends was priceless and so rewarding!

What would you do with the $25,000?

With 25,000 I would put a down payment on a home for my children and myself! We’ve just recently had to start over from scratch and it has been a difficult time for us! I would donate a portion to a school that isn’t as fortunate as the school district that I work for!
