I’ve always enjoyed being around kids. I started as a mother’s helper by the time I was 13 and always worked as camp counselor in the summers at the local rec center. I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference. I remained close with many of my teachers from middle and high school and when times were tough, they helped me. I wanted to do the same. My father was also a teacher and I saw his passion for his subject and his students and I wanted that! I wanted to make a difference!

I have many but most recently, I assigned a project based upon a book we read and my students came in on a Monday and the first thing they asked me to do was to ask how their project was going (they were making a video from chapters of the book). They were so excited to share their experiences and two weeks later they couldn’t wait to show it to the class. It was so much fun and made me feel like I was doing something right!

I would continue to build the libraries in the classrooms. I’d also buy some digital video recorders for more students to do more projects without having to use their phones. I am also a coach and many of our teams struggle for uniforms, I personally made jerseys and bought the shorts for my volleyball team this year. I’d also would like to give some money for some graduation awards in honor of former students who have passed away that can be maintained by the school.
