Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I saw what happens when children feel unseen. Growing up, I watched classmates give up on themselves because no one believed in them. I chose this path to be the voice that says, “You matter.” Even on my hardest days, I show up so my students never feel alone the way so many of us once did.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable moment was when a quiet student slipped me a note that said, “Thank you for not giving up on me.” He had been labeled a problem, but he just needed patience and care. That note sits in my desk drawer. On the days I feel overwhelmed, I read it and remember that showing up with love can change a child’s entire story.

What would you do with the $25,000?

This support would help me provide basic supplies my students often go without—coats, hygiene items, snacks, and classroom materials I currently buy myself. Many come to school carrying burdens far heavier than backpacks. I want my room to be a safe place where their needs are met and their dignity protected, so they can focus on learning and hope again.
