Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because school was my safe place growing up. My parents struggled with addiction, and life at home was often uncertain. My kindergarten teacher showed me love, patience, and belief when I needed it most. She helped me see my worth and potential. Because of her, I knew I wanted to be that same steady support for other children who may need it too.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was watching a struggling reader finally believe in himself. After weeks of practice, he read a passage out loud to the class with confidence. The smile on his face said everything. In that moment, it wasn’t just about reading. It was about growth, courage, and realizing he could do something he once thought was impossible. Moments like that remind me why teaching matters.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received $25,000, I would first pay off my remaining school loans so I could continue investing fully in my students and classroom without that financial burden. I would also donate a portion to a community charity that supports children and families in need. Education and community go hand in hand, and I believe giving back helps create stronger futures for the students we serve.
