Tell us why you became a teacher

Learning and teaching brings me joy because of the powerful “aha” moments students experience when something finally makes sense. Seeing a child move from confusion to understanding is incredibly rewarding. I also learn from my students as much as they learn from me—their questions, perspectives, and creativity teach me new ways to think. Together, we grow through curiosity, discovery, and the excitement of truly understanding something new. I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of the most memorable parts of teaching is changing how students see math, especially when it was once their least favorite subject. Watching their mindset shift from frustration to confidence is incredibly rewarding. I also value the small moments students notice, like asking how their weekend was and genuinely caring about their answer. Those simple interactions build trust and remind students they are seen and valued.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would further my education and give back to my community.
