Tell us why you became a teacher

To be honest, I’m a teacher because I care about the "heartbeat" of our community. Schools are where we shape the future, and I want to be on the front lines of that. I’ve always felt the best part of education isn't the content. It's the connection. I want to be the adult who believes in students until they’re ready to believe in themselves. Seeing a student trade doubt for confidence is the best "win" I could ask for. It’s a huge responsibility to shape character, and I don't take it lightly.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I once taught a freshman who was ready to quit, convinced school just wasn't for them. I didn't use a magic formula just a steady mix of encouragement and accountability. Slowly, the "I can't" became "I'll try." Seeing them start to show up and actually believe in their own potential was everything. They didn't just pass. They changed their entire trajectory. It was a powerful reminder that sometimes, just having one person in your corner can change a student's life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Winning this would be a total game-changer. My first priority is my students. At my school, many kids walk in without the basics. I’d love to fill my cabinets with the supplies and resources they deserve so they can focus on learning, not on what they’re missing. Personally, this would help me clear some debt and finally take a breath of fresh air on a getaway with my husband. It’s about finding a little balance so I can keep pouring my heart into my classroom for years to come.
