Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of my love of seeing the awwww moment when students grasp a concept and the excitement they get from results in science experiments and learning to play/playing to learn with peers. The growth and joy they have in encouraging each other in games and sharing in the success as a team while feeling good about themselves.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience was when I did the layers of the Earth using cereals and the kids couldn’t eat the items until they went to 2 different adults in the building to share it and they had to give me the names of the two adults. It was a boys residential school, so anytime you can enhance and influence learning through the use of food when it seems adolescents/boys aged 10 and up are frequently hungry.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off some of my smaller debt, buy some materials for smaller items needed for manipulatives in class and put some money away for my child’s education.
