Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education changes life trajectories. I wanted to be the adult in the room who not only teaches content, but also builds confidence, structure, and opportunity for every child. Growing up and throughout my experiences, I saw how powerful one committed educator can be. Teachers just don't deliver lessons- they create safe spaces, model resilience, and open doors students didn't even know existed. I wanted to have that kind of impact.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was working with a student who struggled both academically and behaviorally early in the year. The student often shut down during instruction and had difficulty managing frustration. Instead of consequences, I focused on relationship building, consistency, and clear expectations. Over time, through daily check ins, and Structured supports I began to see a shift. The student started completing assignments and believing in themselves.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded this I would focus on created impacts in my community that will have long term sustainability. My priorities would center on youth development, safety, and community Engagement. Youth Enrichment Mentorship- I would fund mentorship initiatives- tutoring, SEL workshops, and parner with local educators Community Safety Engagement- Invest in Neighborhood safety initiatives- such as lighting improvement, and youth led service projects Workforce and Family Support Workshops-
