Learn MoreI began my journey with a suggestion from my grandmother, to look into teaching. I then went to the local library and checked out videos of students being inducted into the Teach for America program. After watching , I was hooked. I begin to search for teaching jobs. Soon after, I was hired as a long term substitute teacher until fully certified. I have been teaching now for 26 years.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI started the annual science fair at the school where I currently work. Third through fifth grade students are able to advance to the regional science fair. Three students had the honor, and one of my students placed third. It was a joy to see my student's face when she found out her accomplishment.
What would you do with the $25,000?I am the new science lab teacher at my school. My students range from Kindergarten-5th Grade. I purchase most of my material to provide meaningful hands on experiences in science. I would use it to contribute to the stem budget that my school needs. Also to advance Stem education in my community. Science education is imperative to change. The students can explore, create and engage in their own creativity.
