Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe children deserve someone who sees their potential before they do. As a mother and educator, I know how powerful patience, structure, and compassion can be, especially for students who need extra support. I teach to create safety, build confidence, and help every child feel capable, valued, and understood.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was teaching through the pandemic, pivoting from distance learning to hybrid instruction overnight. Inviting students into Zoom meant stepping into their homes, their realities. I saw firsthand how some had quiet support and resources, while others faced noise, responsibility, and limited access. It reshaped how I teach, with deeper empathy, flexibility, and advocacy for equity.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would take a restorative vacation with my family, time to breathe, grieve, and reconnect. This year has been heavy, balancing work challenges while mourning loved ones, including my father. I wouldn’t choose extravagance, but peace, a place to slow down, reflect, and create joyful memories. It would be an investment in healing, happiness, and returning home renewed for my family and students.
