Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education has the power to change a student’s trajectory—not just academically, but personally and socially. Throughout my life, I experienced firsthand how one supportive adult can influence confidence, opportunity, and long-term success. That understanding shaped my desire to become the person who creates those opportunities for others. My background in coaching and service taught me that growth happens when individuals feel both challenged and supported.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences as an educator did not happen during a perfectly planned lesson or a major academic achievement. It happened when a student who had struggled all year—academically and behaviorally—chose growth over frustration. This student often shut down when learning became difficult. What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would use the funding to expand hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that allow students to actively explore concepts rather than passively receive information. My goal would be to create a classroom environment where curiosity drives learning and students engage in real-world problem solving through technology and experiential activities.
