I became a teacher because I believe education changes the trajectory of a life. Science, especially, teaches students how to think critically, question boldly, and seek truth through evidence. I wanted to create a classroom where curiosity is valued, where students feel capable, and where they see that their background does not limit their future. Teaching allows me to turn knowledge into opportunity for others.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was leading a blood spatter analysis lab that brought physics and trigonometry to life. Students measured droplets, calculated angles of impact using inverse sine, and applied trajectory formulas to reconstruct a mock crime scene. Watching them connect math to real forensic investigation—and defend their conclusions with evidence—was powerful. It wasn’t just a lab; it was interdisciplinary learning in action.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest it directly into expanding hands-on science experiences for my students. This includes updated lab equipment, forensic investigation kits, marine biology field tools, and resources for inquiry-based projects. I would also fund student certification opportunities and guest experts from the forensic and scientific community. My goal is to give students real-world exposure that builds both confidence and career pathways.
