I love building relationships with students that reach far beyond the classroom. I love celebrating the little moments.

Learn MoreI can’t remember ever wanting to be anything other than a teacher. Growing up, I had amazing teachers who shaped who I am today. My first-grade teacher, Mrs. Kruse, and my fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Ostrander, helped make school a place where I felt capable and supported. Later, teachers like Mr. Stone and Mr. Lipp continued to influence me. The lessons they left me with had very little to do with the subjects they taught and everything to do with character, perseverance, and kindness.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceSince I have always taught Special Education, I have always celebrated when my students did age-appropriate things. When one of my students (with autism) leaned over to look at their neighbor's paper to "cheat" on an assignment, I celebrated. Not only did they interact with their peers, but they also understood the expectations of the class - to complete the assignment. I called home to share with her parents immediately!
What would you do with the $25,000?Sadly, repay student loans. Due to my continued schooling, I have a great deal of student loan debt.
