Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher so that I could motivate my students to become amazing mathematicians! Math can be challenging, but if you try hard enough, you can achieve your goals! I also want to be a safe person for them to always come to if they need anything. When I was in school, it was my home. I wanted to make that same environment in my own classroom!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have had many memorable teaching experiences, but one that recently happened that tugged at my heart strings was when two students approached me and told me I was their "Ms. Honey". In that moment, I knew I had achieved my goal of being a safe person those students could come to, even after I am not their teacher.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were to win $25,000, I would first get my 72 students in my National Junior Honor Society custom designed shirts! Then I would save most of the money for both of my daughters college fund so they could become whatever they are destined to be! The remainder of the money I would use to help fund my classroom for materials.
