Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher after my favorite teacher passed away from cancer. Seeing how deeply she impacted her students and how many people were in attendance at her celebrationof life, affected me deeply. At her celebration of life, story after story revealed the confidence, hope, and direction she gave others. I realized teaching is more than lessons. It’s influence and legacy. If I can positively impact even a fraction of the amount lives she touched, I will consider my life well lived.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It’s hard to choose just one moment. My most memorable experiences are the everyday breakthroughs. When a student finally “gets it” and their face lights up with confidence. I cherish the moments when students trust me enough to share their struggles and ask for help. Building real connections and making sure every child knows they are seen, valued, and loved is what makes teaching unforgettable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Winning $25,000 would change our lives. My husband needs back surgery to live and function with less pain, but he hasn’t been able to work full time in over three years. Disability says he doesn’t qualify, yet he struggles daily with constant pain and basic tasks. This prize would allow us to afford the surgery he desperately needs and give our family hope for a healthier, more stable future.
