Tell us why you became a teacher

I am a teacher kid! I am blessed to be a 4th generation teacher in my family. When it came time to decide what path I would take as an adult, it was clear that my calling was in education. I love to bring learning to life for all my students. I myself am a life long learner and I love finding a learning about new things. That is something I hope to instill in my students a true love of learning no matter the age you are at.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It is hard to pick just one moment, I have had so many! Recently in the past 4 years I moved from a classroom teacher to a STEM teacher. I am truly blessed that I get to embody the amazing mentors like Bill Nye and Miss Frizzle in my STEM classroom. I was able to conduct a science experiment with 70 3rd graders all at once! We were on our local newscast in the Science segment showing chemical reactions with mentos and coke explosions!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would absolutely love to trick out my STEM Lab! There are so many resources that I would love to add 3D printers, new robotics kits, build materials and all kinds of cool science materials! I would add things that would open doors to kids in CODING, engineering and anything STEM career related! Having better design furniture that would allow better collaboration for my students! Anything that I could buy and get in the hands of kids to explore and open their minds to endless possibility!
