Tell us why you became a teacher

I chose to become a special education teacher because I wanted to make. Difference to those student who seem to get left behind! Just working with them and seeing the smiles when they feel that they have accomplished or even learned a new task is such a great feeling! Watching them shine and grow is such a great thing feeling!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

When we read a novel called Lily's Crossing and my class made the soup kitchen and all participated in helping put it together. When the teacher brought there tickets to join us for lunch the students were excited to tell the teachers about the soup kitchen and who came up with the idea and all about the great depression. Just listening to them tell the teachers what they read and learned was awesome! I will always remember the smiles on all of there faces and the pride they had!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use a lot of the money to buy supplies for my classroom and even donate some of it to my special education department so the other teachers could get things for there classrooms. Something else is that I would be able to pay for IXL program to help collect data on my students. I would even look into buying an ELA and Math curriculum that is expecially made for the special Ed program since we don't have a curriculum and just pull things from different sources and make it work!
