Tell us why you became a teacher

I chose to become a teacher because I wanted to profoundly impact my students' lives and inspire the leaders of tomorrow. I believe that education possesses an incredible power to transform lives, opening doors to opportunities that can reshape futures. Every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves a chance to learn, grow, and thrive in an environment that fosters support and encouragement.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I implemented an International Culture Day at a predominantly African American school for students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. Each grade had to select a country to study, including its food, language, and dance. The outcome was phenomenal. I watched as a third-grade class learned and performed a Polish song, and a fifth-grade class danced to Greek music. It was an incredible experience that brought tears to my eyes.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Create a scholarship fund specifically designed to support ESL students who encounter financial obstacles that prevent them from engaging in valuable extracurricular activities, attending college visits, or enrolling in advanced placement courses. This fund will aim to alleviate the financial burden these students face, allowing them to explore opportunities that enhance their educational experience and promote their academic growth. The scholarships will cover costs.
