For the kids. I get a new batch of kids every year, and they make me happy. I don’t have children of my own yet, so they are my children.

Learn MoreI became a teacher because I’ve always wanted to make a difference in kids’ lives. I love helping students learn, grow, and realize what they’re capable of. Seeing their confidence build when something finally clicks is the best part of the job. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn every day.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching moments was helping a student learn to read. At the beginning of the year he struggled and would get frustrated during reading time. We practiced a little every day and slowly it started to make sense to him. One day he read a sentence by himself and looked up at me and said, “Look, I did it!” That moment has always stayed with me.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to give my students opportunities they might not otherwise have. I would fill my classroom with books, hands-on learning materials, and science and STEM activities that make learning exciting and meaningful. I would also create flexible seating and calm spaces so students feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn. My goal is to build a classroom where every child feels valued and excited to come to school.
