I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, but amazing teachers along my own journey solidified it for me and taught me what kind of teacher I wanted to be. I teach because each and every one of their lives is worth my time, investment and effort. I teach in the hope that my students one day achieve the dreams society said they never would, and that they know statistics cannot predict their futures. I teach to make learning FUN again.

Me every day at the end of recess: (blows whistles) "Let's go, little ducks!!" My class: Lines up behind me wherever I'm standing, flaps their wings, shakes their tails and then snaps their beaks shut. 🦆🐥🐥 Me one random Thursday at recess to the one student (Jack) waiting at the door, not in line: 'Why are you not in line, little duck?" Jack: Because I'm a beautiful swan. 🦢 Well.... 🤷‍♀️ Can't argue with justified reasoning.

The only reason I entered this contest is for Jack Roy the Science Boy to meet his favorite human, Bill Nye the Science Guy. It would make my teacher heart so happy! To share a Bill Nye assembly with the rest of my school would be such a cherished opportunity, and these kids deserve it! I would also be excited to win and use the money to celebrate with a huge family-style cookout party with students and their families, past and present, who I have remained close with.
