Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because, for over 20 years, education has been my true passion and I feel we have the chance to inspire future generations. Since a young age, I felt a deep calling to guide others and share what I was learning. Teaching allows me to shape wise, compassionate minds through different subjects. I love helping students grow academically and personally, nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and kindness so they can thrive in an ever-changing world.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most meaningful experiences is to have the opportunity to teach in the U.S. after being an educator in India, Colombia, and Mexico. As an immigrant educator, adapting to new academic standards while navigating a new culture was an added challenge. Within months, I led my students to USC, where we earned 3rd place in California’s Future City competition, a moment of resilience, growth, and validation for all of us.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pursue a U.S.-based specialization and then implement an AI integrated curriculum using tools like OpenAI, Google for Education, and Anthropic. The funds would support student projects, platform licenses, and teacher training to guide effective AI use, helping students move beyond coding basics and focus on designing real world solutions through innovation and problem solving. I will also donate a portion to charity related to education projects.
