Tell us why you became a teacher

At first, I didn’t fully realize how deeply I would fall in love with teaching. It wasn’t until my first year in the classroom that I understood it was truly my passion. I found myself wanting to stay beyond my contract hours—not because I had to, but because I wanted to. I was driven to create lessons that reached students of all learning styles and helped every child feel successful. In those moments, I realized that teaching was more than a career for me; it was a calling.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Every day, I have the privilege of building meaningful relationships with my students, and each moment we share becomes a memory I treasure. The most special days are the ones when we can laugh and learn together in a cozy, welcoming classroom. Those moments—when students feel safe, valued, and excited to learn remind me why I chose this profession. It is in those shared smiles, breakthroughs, and conversations that I see the true impact of teaching.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I currently teach at a Title I school, where many students face challenges beyond the classroom. If awarded $25,000, I would purchase flexible classroom seating and tables to support collaboration and different learning styles. I would also invest in hands-on science materials and a 3D virtual human anatomy program to deepen students’ understanding through interactive learning. Finally, I would ensure all of my students receive CPR training, equipping them with life-saving skills and confidence.
