I was inspired to become a teacher by my Kindergarten teacher Ms. Tania, the love, care and education I received has stuck with me throughout my journey as an educator. Through her passion I found mine, helping children feel seen, capable and loved. I was drawn to special education because every child deserves someone who believes in them, meets them where they are, and celebrates every small victory. Teaching allows me to make a lasting difference in both academic learning and confidence.

My most memorable experience I would was helping one of my foster care students during a very difficult time In his life, when most gave up on him (because he was so angry), I stood by and we just talked but most of all I listened to him and made sure he knew I heard him and what he had to say has value along with a hug a smile that lite up when he knew his words matter. This was just a small reminder that growth looks different for every child & those small breakthroughs can be life changing.

I would help to create a sensory-rich inclusive resource room inclusive of Flexable seating, adaptive technology, and hands-on learning tools to support all-learners. I would try to provide resources for families and provide a calming space to help students target their academic and emotional needs. I am also the Media Specialist at my school & I’m super excited for the chance to win the book voucher and be able to add new books to our library and students hands.
