Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher and coach because I believe in shaping both minds and character. The classroom gives me the chance to spark curiosity and a love for learning, while athletics teaches discipline, resilience, and teamwork. Watching students and athletes grow in confidence, overcome challenges, and realize their potential is one of the greatest rewards I could ever experience.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences is watching a former student overcome challenges and grow into the person she is today. I taught and coached her in 7th grade, where she faced obstacles that could have easily held her back. Instead, she chose perseverance. Today she is a senior at Tarleton State University competing on the track and field team. Seeing her determination carry her this far reminds me why I teach and coach—to help students believe in what is possible for their future.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use $25,000 as a starting point to build long-term financial growth. By investing in diversified index funds or other stable investment options, the money can grow steadily over time through compound interest. My goal would be to let it work for the future—creating financial stability, opportunities for new ventures, and the ability to invest in experiences, education, and goals that positively impact my life and others.
