Tell us why you became a teacher

I can honestly say that I didn't choose to go into the teaching profession, it chose me. I absolutely love working with my students and seeing the rewarding light bulb moments after a challenging lesson. The connections, growth, stories, and personalities of each and everyone of my students is beyond rewarding. I always find myself telling stories about my teaching experience to everyone I meet because it's truly such a big part of my life.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A memorable teaching experience I have had was with a student who really struggled in school. Not only was his home life difficult, but he lacked a variety of emotional and showed a lot of aggression towards others. It took a lot of time, but eventually I was able to connect with him and show that I am here to guide and support him, not scold. Eventually he confided in me and I learned that he didn't own shoes that fit him. I decided to buy him two brand new pairs and he cried out of happiness!

What would you do with the $25,000?

With 25,000, I would pay off both myself and fiance's debt, as well as use it towards our new home that we are wanting to build! We are getting married this year and it would be such an honor to receive this award!
