My journey to teaching was born from my own academic struggles. Because learning didn't come easily to me, I know the power of a teacher who truly 'sees' you and offers new ways of thinking. I teach physics because I love asking 'why' and want to demystify it, proving that anyone can do hard things. My ultimate passion isn't just the science; it's sharing it. There is no greater fulfillment than building connection, sparking curiosity, and seeing a challenging concept finally click.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most profound experience was with a bright student whose difficult home life led her to fail the AP Physics exam. I encouraged her to harness her skills as a Peer Mentor the next year. Mentoring helped her rediscover a love for science, build confidence, and pass the exam. More importantly, our trust gave her the courage to confess suicidal thoughts, enabling her to get the help she needed. Hearing from her years later, now thriving, reminded me why connection is a teacher's greatest tool.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Winning would provide incredible financial relief by allowing me to cut back on shifts at my second job. Reclaiming that time prevents burnout, freeing me to develop tiered instruction and better connect with students 1-on-1. I could finally invest in my own well-being, bringing real-world physics experiences back to my students through stories, and possibly even fund hands-on field trips to make our curriculum truly memorable.
