I love teaching because real learning starts with connection. When my students feel seen and respected, trust grows and learning begins.

I became a Spanish teacher because language has the power to open doors and connect lives. In my classroom, students learn more than vocabulary—they discover confidence, culture, and their voice. I work to build relationships where students feel respected and supported so they are willing to take risks and grow. Teaching allows me to guide students toward understanding the world and their place in it.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most powerful moments was watching a quiet student who once refused to speak Spanish volunteer to lead a class conversation. The room filled with encouragement from classmates. In that moment, I realized teaching language is really about building courage and trust. Seeing students believe in themselves and find their voice reminds me why this work matters every day.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I would expand opportunities for my students to experience Spanish beyond the textbook. I would invest in cultural resources, classroom materials, and experiences that connect language to real people and communities. My goal is to create a classroom where students do not just study Spanish, but feel inspired to engage with the diverse cultures and perspectives of the Spanish-speaking world.
