Bryan prado

I love teaching because I get to educate students in history. Also I love being a representative as a Hispanic male teacher in East Harlem.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I wanted to be a teacher to be what I didn’t get to see represented in my school growing up, a Hispanic educator. I wanted to continue making history a great subject to learn like the teachers who influenced me did. I also wanted to help other Hispanic students achieve their goals and to inspire them.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience has to be when I was asked to help coach the boys soccer team. I had a good rapport with the seniors on the team since I was their teacher too. I helped that team reach the round of 16 for the first time in the school’s history , and the seniors all graduated with memories of the team’s success.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I am currently pursuing my EdD degree at Manhattanville university. I would like to start my life and a family with my fiancé. We have been struggling with debt and other financial struggles. This would serve to help us get situated, something I’ve long struggled with my teacher salary.
