Since I was a little girl, being a teacher is all I can remember ever wanting to be. Growing up, I’ve always “played school.” Throughout my own education, I’ve had some very influential teachers who are my inspiration for becoming a teacher myself. I became a teacher because I want to make a difference! When reconnecting with and/or hearing about the success of former students it makes me so proud to know that I’ve helped them to reach their educational goals.

I don’t really have one specific experience, but I do have a couple students who come to mind that are most memorable. I have had a handful of students throughout my years as a teacher who have pulled at my heartstrings. These have been students who didn’t really have a positive role model at home or a positive home environment, so I tried to be that person for them. Someone who truly saw and heard them and made sure they knew that they were/are loved.

Teaching at a school that has been catastrophically affected by Hurricane Ida, I would donate the money to go towards our new school. Bayou Boeuf Elementary School had to be completely demolished and is now currently being rebuilt, so this money would be a tremendous help in making our newly rebuilt school feel like home again.
