Connect Tell us why you became a teacher

My journey began in my high school Agriculture classes and FFA. Coming from an Agriculture family, I felt at home in the shop and Animal Science classes, but it was my Ag teacher’s belief in my potential that set my course. I took her word for it and never looked back. After serving as a Colorado State FFA Officer and graduating from CSU, I’m driven by the same passion my mentors showed me: fostering a love for Agriculture and passing it on to the next generation.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience is the four-year evolution of my students. I watch freshmen discover their spark—whether growing greenhouse plants, winning "Battle of the Breeds," or designing their first floral arrangement—and see them graduate as world-ready seniors. Through FFA, they turn that excitement into leadership, mastering everything from meats judging to parliamentary procedure. Seeing them grow into leaders who "change the world in their own way" is my greatest reward.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest $12,500 into a fund to support students who cannot afford FFA official dress, travel to state/national conventions, and however else I can support my students. The remaining half would allow me to clear personal debt accumulated from years of self-funding classroom supplies. Eliminating this financial stress would allow me to focus fully on my roles as a teacher, mother, and wife. By reinvesting in my students and my own stability, I can continue to give my best to my community.
