Learn MoreSchool was my safe place growing up; a place where I felt supported, encouraged, and believed in. That experience is what inspired me to become a teacher. I strive to be that safe, trusted person for my students by building confidence, inspiring curiosity, and helping them grow academically and personally. My classroom is a place where students feel seen, valued, and empowered to take risks, ask questions, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy first year teaching, I taught fifth grade at the same school I attended as a child. I was so happy and deeply moved by my 25 amazing students, and we shared one of the best years of my life. They were the Class of 2024. I was honored to stand on the field as an educator next to one of my most inspiring high school teachers as they crossed the stage to receive their diplomas. Their hugs and our tears remind me why I teach and inspire me to build a foundation of love, goals, and perseverance.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I would create an innovative, welcoming classroom and provide all 75 fifth-grade students, the Class of 2033, with a field trip to SeaWorld that embeds real science learning into a fun, memorable experience. Many of our Title I students may never have this opportunity. As this is our school’s final year as a K–6 campus, I want students to close this chapter with hands-on learning, confidence, and memories that remind them their dreams are bigger than their zip code.
