I became a teacher to break cycles and build futures. Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and believed in. I lead with love, high expectations, and unwavering accountability because I know potential is everywhere, even when opportunity is not. I refuse to let their life circumstances define my students. I challenge them to see their strength, grow their voice, and rise beyond their limitations. My classroom is not just a place to learn; it’s a place to become. It is a home, a home we build.

Teaching fifth grade, I had a student on the autism spectrum who did not speak or read. By year’s end, he was speaking in full sentences and reading at a second-grade level. The first time his parents heard him read, they cried and hugged me tightly. I will never forget his face, his pride, and his confidence. That moment reminded me that belief, patience, and high expectations can unlock potential others may overlook. That student is my why.

I would expand math and STEM opportunities by providing manipulatives, technology, and project-based tools that make abstract concepts accessible. I would invest in small-group resources and host family math nights to extend learning beyond the classroom. Funds would also beautify our school and update furniture, creating a space students feel proud of. This grant would remove barriers, build confidence, and help students take pride in their school and themselves.
