Tell us why you became a teacher

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher, going all the way back to elementary school. I wanted to help kids learn. I wanted to help shape the future. Seeing kids build their self confidence and understand new concepts makes me so happy for them. We can't succeed if we don't believe in ourselves and helping kids learn to believe in themselves is one of the greatest feelings in the world.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

In 2020, it was Ferbruary and we had returned from the weekend to some bad news. Over the weekend we had lost a student to leukemia. When we shared the news with our students, watching them come together in honor of the student we lost is something I will never forget. It was evident how much they not only cared about the student but about each other as well.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I was to win the $25,000 I would probably spend it on resources for my class to assist in their learning in the fields of math and science. We have very little resources to teach from so having access to money that will help to purchase some resources would be great.
