Brittany Armstrong

I love building relationships with my students, teaching them to love Math. I get paid to watch light bulb moments.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I wanted to show kids that Math doesn’t have to me hard and is always fun.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I taught special education at the beginning of my career, I had several students who were nonverbal and it was my job to work with them and teach them to communicate in the best way they could. I had a student speak his first words with me. The day he said my name I cried and hugged him so tight. I was so proud of all the hard work he had done and he used those skills to call my name. It meant so much to me.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Buy manipulative for math centers and supplement our science curriculum with online programs to increase student engagement and improve our students understanding of fourth grade science concepts. I would love to buy a screen cast so I can project from my laptop directly to the smart board in my classroom. If I had enough left I would buy a dry erase table to replace my small group table.
