I became a teacher to be the person so many kids need in their life. A listening ear, a loving heart, an accepting group, a cheerleader. I love my content, but for me teaching is more than content, it is character.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThe story is not mine to tell, so I will provide as much anonymity as possible. I met a student her freshman year who was one more bad decision from court ordered GED. She had it made in her mind that she would not live to see 17. I brought her into our organization, gave her opportunities, acceptance, and consistency. Now she is on track to graduate high school in 2 months and attend college to become a counselor.
What would you do with the $25,000?Invest into time with my home family who is very supportive of all the time and personal funds I invest into my students.
