Tell us why you became a teacher

My whole life I have wanted to be a teacher, even through my rough life as a student. I want to be an influence to young people to WANT to learn. I want to help provide a safe space for kids who need it. Mostly I want to change the world of education for the better.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Unfortunately the most memorable conversation I ever had with a student took place a few years before his life was taken in a school shooting incident. I have built relationships with my students and love them ALL as my own children, losing one was not expected so early in my career and will remain with me for my life. Watching him and other students become so much more than they ever thought they could has made every early morning and late night worth it.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off a bit of debt for sure, but my husband (much to his dislike) could agree….ill spend most of it on my kids, AKA my students!
