Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I want to help children learn in the ways that work best for them and give every student opportunities to be successful. I believe classrooms should be positive, safe spaces where creativity is encouraged and mistakes are celebrated as part of learning. My third grade teacher created that kind of environment for me, and it inspired my love of learning and my desire to do the same for my students.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences is when a student finally understands a concept they have been struggling with. Seeing that moment when it “clicks” for them is incredibly rewarding. I love taking the time to celebrate those moments, pointing out their hard work and giving them the space to feel proud of what they’ve accomplished. Those moments remind me why teaching is so meaningful.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I would use it to support both my students and my own growth as an educator. I would invest in hands-on learning materials, books, and creative resources that help students learn in different ways and make the classroom more engaging and supportive for everyone.
