Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher later in life because it is my passion to give back what was so freely given to me. Love, patience, and a voice for those who do not have one.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is when my class grew tomatoes. The happiness on their faces to see that they had watered and grown the tomatoes. Also, when I cooked breakfast with my 6th-12th graders and my 1st and second graders. Learning concepts like measuring, proportions and cooking times, while also exploring the scientific principles of heat chemistry and chemical reactions that transform ingredients.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had $25,000 I would put it towards opening a camp for Special needs students. Whether they are 504, IEP, or behavior. Strategies like horse therapy, gardening, fishing, taking care of animals, and of course learning core subjects along the way!!!
