Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because nothing is more fulfilling than helping someone discover confidence and achieve something they once believed was impossible. Music gives me a powerful way to connect with students, share an art form I care deeply about, and guide them through challenges that help them grow. Beyond notes and rhythms, I strive to teach perseverance, creativity, and self-belief life lessons they can carry with them long after they leave my classroom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my favorite memories is of my student Hannah. I watched her work quietly and tirelessly, always pushing herself to improve. I offered encouragement and reminders to keep believing in her abilities. By her senior year, she became drum major. Later she told me it was my belief in her that gave her the courage to step into that leadership role. In that moment, I truly realized the power teachers have to help students see their own potential.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I have a beautiful wife and two very active boys. There is a lot that I can do to support my family with the $25,000. It will also assist in paying off my loans that I have from college.
