I teach so every student feels smart, safe, and unapologetically brilliant — especially those who haven’t realized it yet.

I became a teacher to be the person I needed growing up. I wanted to create a classroom where students feel seen, valued, and capable—no matter their background. Teaching gives me the chance to change the trajectory of a child’s life, not just academically, but personally. Every day, I get to build confidence, spark curiosity, and remind students they are capable of more than they think.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable moments was watching a student who struggled academically and personally begin to believe in themselves. Through encouragement and consistency, they went from shutting down to raising their hand with confidence. One day they said, “I think I’m actually smart.” That moment reminded me that teaching isn’t just about content—it’s about changing how students see themselves.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest in my classroom and students by creating more hands-on, engaging learning experiences and providing resources many of them don’t have access to. I would also support academic clubs and opportunities that build confidence and leadership. Most importantly, I would use it to remove barriers so every student has the chance to succeed and see their full potential.
