I love teaching because I help young minds find their voice, think critically, and believe in their God given potential.

I became a teacher because I know how powerful one supportive adult can be in a young person’s life. I didn’t always have an easy path growing up, and education helped me build a future beyond my circumstances. Now I teach so my students feel seen, capable, and inspired to pursue their potential. My goal is to create a classroom where curiosity, creativity, and confidence can grow.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable moments as a teacher was watching my students present their Black History Wax Museum projects. They transformed into historical figures, researched their lives, and spoke with confidence to younger students and teachers. Seeing students who were once shy stand proudly and teach others reminded me that education isn’t just about knowledge, it’s about helping young people discover their voice.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest the money directly back into my students and school community. I would expand classroom resources, create more hands-on learning experiences like our Wax Museum and history projects, and help fund field trips that bring lessons to life. I’d also invest in athletics and extracurricular opportunities so students who may not always shine academically still have a place to grow, lead, and belong.
