Betty Fowler

I love teaching elementary because I get to watch little minds light up, spark a love for learning, and see daily, joyful "aha" moments.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe every child deserves someone who sees their potential, supports their growth, and celebrates who they are. Teaching allows me to make a real difference—helping students feel capable, valued, and confident. I love creating a classroom where every learner can succeed and feel proud of themselves.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was watching a struggling student finally believe in himself . After weeks of support, he read aloud confidently for the first time. The pride on his face—and the cheers from his classmates—reminded me why I teach: to help every child feel capable, valued, and celebrated.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would create an inclusive, hands‑on learning environment by adding sensory tools, updated classroom technology, diverse books, and real‑world learning materials. I would also fund family engagement events and provide resources that ensure every student—especially those with unique needs—has what they need to thrive.
